I love to entertain. I love to cook. I love food (and unfortunately, it shows...in the area just above my jeans). My favorite place to hang out, and to entertain guests is in my kitchen and around my kitchen table. Sometimes I wonder why I have other rooms in my house when most of my time is spent in the kitchen- all the others are just a burden to try to keep clean in between my kitchen projects. The perfect home to me, would be all about the kitchen and would have a large space for guests to sit and visit while I cook. The stove would have more than four burners, becuase when you are really working on things, that is not enough. Two ovens...if I could ask for anything....
One of my strongest spiritual gifts is giving, and my favorite way to give is to feed people. I see a pack of artichokes I think-- I could grill these and have so-and-so over for dinner. When we get a beef from the farmer, I imagine summer cook-outs on the deck and late night bonfires. Having picked over 100 pounds of apples at my parents' house last weekend, I started making apple butter and sauce. I love the cooking, the giving, and the sharing of what I made with others. The ladies in my Bible study all left tonight with a jar of my latest work. : )
Tomorrow, three friends are coming over for pasta day-- we are going to make pumpkin ravioli that will cook in a sage butter sauce, spinach pasta, and regular pasta to go with my leftover arugula pesto. I will finish processing another 38 pounds of apples that are cooking down tonight, make a couple of pies, and who knows what else...and-- I will take pictures and share recipes. Does that sound good?
excited for recipes! wish i could be there.
